Goldberg Segalla Adds N.C. Office, and Lawyers in Philly and London, to Meet Growing Global Insurance Industry Demand

Leading global law firm Goldberg Segalla today unveiled a series of significant moves that will continue to enhance the depth and range of services it offers its international client base. The firm announced that today it will open an office in North Carolina, signaling expansion into the Southeastern U.S., and that its Philadelphia office will be joined by a trio of prominent insurance coverage attorneys. Goldberg Segalla’s London office will also see the addition of a key legal representative of Spanish and South American insurers on London market and U.S. insurance issues.

This extraordinary growth on both sides of the Atlantic within the firm’s dynamic Global Insurance Services Practice Group is spearheaded by three well-credentialed partners: David L. Brown, Michael A. Hamilton, and Miguel L. Roure. Joining the firm as partners in North Carolina, Philadelphia, and London, respectively, these recognized industry specialists share in Goldberg Segalla’s overarching commitment to being the premier law firm serving the international insurance and reinsurance markets.  Mr. Hamilton and Mr. Brown are both active in the invitation-only International Association of Defense Counsel as members of its Insurance and Reinsurance Committee, of which Mr. Hamilton is currently Chair.

“David, Mike, and Miguel are all emblematic of the kind of strategic, thoughtful expansion that has been central to our founding vision and culture,” said Daniel W. Gerber, Co-Chair of the firm’s Global Insurance Services Practice Group. “Any firm would be fortunate to have these lawyers on their team, and we’re honored that they’ve chosen to join us.”

“Each of these attorneys strengthens Goldberg Segalla’s ability to serve leading global insurers in key geographic regions both domestically and abroad — the Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic Coast in the U.S., as well as in Spain and Latin America,” said Richard J. Cohen, the firm’s Managing Partner. “Providing the exceptional service our clients demand across a broad swath of the U.S. and around the world is crucial to our growth strategy. We’re entering and expanding in these markets to readily meet the evolving needs of our clients and the insurance industry.”

In North Carolina, Mr. Brown is joined by partners Martha P. Brown, David G. Harris, John I. Malone, Jr., Brady A. Yntema, and associates Daniel Keeney and Leigh R. Trigilio. Mr. Hamilton bolsters Goldberg Segalla’s Philadelphia and New Jersey offices with partner Michael J. Kurtis and special counsel Kevin M. Apollo, while Mr. Roure services an array of international clients from London and Madrid.

Greensboro, N.C. is the second new U.S. city for the firm in as many weeks; March 2nd, well-known attorney Kurtis B. Reeg and his accomplished team of lawyers established Goldberg Segalla’s office in St. Louis. Collectively, the lawyers also bring extensive courtroom experience in matters involving product liability, insurance, reinsurance, environmental and toxic torts, construction defect litigation, professional liability, and employment law, among others.

Goldberg Segalla has earned numerous distinctions that place it among many of the largest and longest-established law firms in the world. In 2014, it was named Law Firm of the Year by the global insurance and reinsurance publication Reactions at its London Market Awards, as well as USA Insurance Law Firm of the Year by the international Lawyer Monthly.
